Ezequiel Fernandez is an Argentine professional footballer who currently plays for River Plate. He primarily plays as a central defender, but has also been deployed as a right back and defensive midfielder. Fernandez started his career with River Plate in 2007, and won the league title in his first season. He also made appearances in the Copa Libertadores, where River Plate reached the semi-finals. In 2013, he joined Manchester City on a four-year contract.

He primarily plays as a right back. Fernandez made his debut for Boca Juniors in 2009 at the age of 17, and has since played for River Plate, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona and Dortmund. He has won four La Liga titles with Barcelona and two Champions League titles with Dortmund.

In Brazil’s final group stage game, a 0-0 tie with Costa Rica, Fernandez was substituted off in the 71st minute for Renato Augusto.
Ezequiel Fernandez was part of the Brazil squad at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He made his international debut in a 3-2 victory over Equatorial Guinea on 28 May 2011. At the tournament, Fernandez played in all four of Brazil’s matches, helping them to third place.

Ezequiel Férnandez was born on February 3, 1988 in Quito, Ecuador. He is a versatile defender who can play anywhere along the back line.
Férnandez started his career with local side Emelec and made his professional debut in 2008. In 2011 he joined Spanish side Rayo Vallecano and helped them qualify for the Champions League.
In January 2015, Férnandez joined Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers. He made an immediate impact and helped the Timbers reach the MLS Cup Final. The Timbers lost to Toronto FC but Férnandez was named MVP of the tournament.
