Underworld movies are action movies that started as movies in 2003 with Underworld, starring Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman and directed by Len Wiseman. Underworld was followed by Underworld: Evolution in 2006, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans in 2009, and Underworld: Awakening in 2012. More recent Underworld movies include Underworld: Blood Wars (2016) and Underworld 6 (2018). The storyline for the Underworld movies follows vampires versus werewolves through time and space – from different parts of Earth to the depths of Hell itself.
Brief History of The Underworld Movie Series
The first Underworld movie came out in 2003. It was a box office success, and the movie gained a cult following. The second one came out three years later in 2006, and its story loosely intertwined with the first one. Fast forward to 2017 and we’re already on the sixth instalment of the series.
The Underworld movies’ production company is called Lakeshore Entertainment and their headquarters are in Toronto, Canada. Lakeshore has produced movies such as Godsend (2004), Mean Girls (2004), Slither (2006), Seven Pounds (2008) and Funny People (2009). But they’ve only been producing Underworld movies since 2003, which begs the question: how many underworld movies are there?
Underworld 6 will be released in January 2018, so it’s not even out yet. Underworld 5 was released two years ago, and Underworld 4 came out five years ago. Underworld 3 premiered at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2006 and Underworld 2 premiered back in 2004. So yeah, I’m not sure how many underworld movies are there either but from what I can tell from these past ones it looks like it’ll probably be six or seven by this time next year.
Interview With Kate Beckinsale, Star of Most Underworld Movies
I am of course also interested in this. You know, how many underworld movies are there. I’m not sure how to answer that question because I think the Underworld franchise encompasses three movies so far, is that right? But then there’s two Underworld: Origins and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which were sort of sequels to this original three-part series. And then from Underworld: Awakening onward they are unrelated. That’s as much as I can say.
Let me take a look at my contract and see if I have any restrictions on talking about other projects when people ask me questions like this, but you would be surprised to know that I don’t! My next question for you was going to be how many underworld movies are there?
There are six Underworld movies (seven including Underworld: Blood Wars) that are currently in existence or coming out soon (as well as one TV series).
The first Underworld movie was released on October 21st, 2003, and it has been 13 years since then. The seventh underworld movie will come out soon.
I hope this answers your question!

Interview With Theo James, Star of Some (But Not All) Underworld Movies
1. What made you want to play Selene in the Underworld movies?
2. Why do you think Selene is a hero/good guy in Underworld even though she kills people?
3. How many Underworld movies are there, Theo James? 4. I have no idea how many Underworld movies are there, but I’ve only starred in three of them: Underworld (2003), Underworld Evolution (2006), and Underworld: Awakening (2012).
5. It’s kind of ironic that it took five years for me to appear in my first movie franchise!
6. We were so excited when we got an offer for two more sequels!
7. The latest one was just released, and it’s called Underworld: Blood Wars (2016).
8. What’s your favourite underworld movie out of all the ones you’ve been in?
9. My favourite is Underworld: Evolution because that was where everything changed from humans against vampires to humans and vampires working together.
10. Will there be any more Underworld movies with Selene?
11. We don’t know yet – let’s hope so!
12. Anything else you’d like our readers to know about Underworld?
13. Yes, thanks for reading this post about underworld movies are there – we hope you liked it as much as we did!
Categorizing The Different Types of Underworld Movies
Some of the Underworld movies to date include Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and more. Each of these films features a different storyline, characters, and ending that follow a battle between vampires and werewolves. With six Underworld movies so far in the series, how many Underworld movies are there? The answer may depend on what you consider a movie.
While all three of the aforementioned films are Underworld movies in general, they are also part of separate film series with distinct storylines. That said, it is difficult to say how many Underworld movies are there because some argue that an Underworld movie is simply a horror film based on any or all those elements. Ultimately, how many Underworld movies are there is up for debate.
It’s not just about how many Underworld movies are out there but rather what makes one Underworld-sequel. So, while most would argue that Underworld: Evolution is not an Underworld movie, others might disagree depending on their personal interpretation of the word Underworld. In other words, how many Underworld movies are there depends entirely on who you ask.
Conclusion
The Underworld franchise is a film series that I, personally, really enjoy. It’s got a lot of elements that I really enjoy in movies: dark characters, cool action scenes, humour, and gore. But what I love most about the Underworld films is how many new things are explored within these four walls! There are so many different aspects to each movie that it never gets old.
Plus, they’re all set in such a fun world with so much creativity involved; it just feels like you’re watching something new every time you watch an Underworld movie. And I’m so glad that there will be one more coming out this year! Stay tuned for my next blog post, where I’ll be reviewing Underworld: Blood Wars!
If you’ve already seen some of these Underworld movies, maybe you have your own personal favourites or least favourites. Maybe you agree or disagree with me on which parts were enjoyable or not enjoyable. I would love to hear from you either way!
